Coil Pottery (Hand Building)

$50.00

This 2-week coil pottery class takes place Sunday, April 12th at 1:00 PM and Sunday, April 19th at 1:00 PM. Both dates are required so you can complete your piece from start to finish.

In this class, participants will learn the handbuilding technique of creating pottery with rolled coils of clay. You’ll learn how to roll even coils, stack and join them to build walls, and shape a form as it grows. The class also covers scoring and slipping, compressing seams for strength, and refining or smoothing the surface.

Participants can create forms such as small bowls, cups, planters, or sculptural pieces. Come with inspiration for what you’d like to make.

Part 1 – Building (April 12th)
Participants will build their pottery piece using the coil method. After the class, pieces will remain at the studio to dry and be kiln fired.

Part 2 – Glazing (April 19th)
Once fired, you’ll return to glaze your pottery using a variety of vibrant ceramic glazes.

Each class lasts about 3 hours, though you may take more or less time depending on your piece. Arriving a little early is recommended so you don’t miss important information at the start of class.

Cost: $50 per person (includes both days, all materials, and kiln firing)

To reserve a spot, visit JozilCeramicsStudio.com. Walk-ins are welcome, but seating is limited and available while spots remain.
